2 of my friends and I spent a week at the hotel tryp and we loved it!! the weather was beautiful the ocean was calm and clear and there was never a dull day!! we went on the glass bottom bost which i highly recommend and we also went snorkelling which was just amazing!! Tip: if you go snorkelling bring a few bananas from the snack bar to feed the fish also if you are a strong swimmer the guide may take you out alone to see a some cool stuff!
I would totally stay there again it was all we wanted and more the nightly entertainment was fun and the staff were very friendly and helpful!!

I disagree with these negative reviews. There's a pretty decent beach, the food was really good for me (if u like seafood), and entertainment was alright. For food....If your going to the caribbean you can't expect them to be experts in the art of making stupid hamburgers. There were 3 a la carte restaurants, the seafood place had AMAZING food, i mean it tasted as if the fish was caught an hour ago. I agree that the buffet restaurant was below par, but for crying out loud there were other restaurants which were all really good.
There were a good number of young people that were for the most part pretty cool. The watersports were also good. The beach is clean and beautiful, God forbid you goofballs leave the idiodic pool area. And the water was warm.
I do recommend an excursion to Moron, to the cave and the prohibited beach just north (i believe) of the resort. The trip to the town was pretty cool, I probably wouldnt do it again because the beach is better but its something you should at least see. The cave was alright, but the prohibited beach, undoubtably owned by Castro's cronnies, was absoluely RIDICULOUS! It was untouched, the sand was really soft, the water was turquoise and blue. To this day that is probably the best beach I have ever seen (I just asked the guy that owned the restaurant if I could take a stroll on the beach and he was cool about it). Guys, this is the perfect place to take your lady friend (its really private).
There was great nightly entertainment, the guitarist was really good, he did Tears in Heaven, No Women No Cry, etc, had a really great voice (once again, perfect to slow dance to). The bartender, Leo, was wicked, he makes a mean ZAMBOOKA! I wouldn't return tho, its always best to try different things.
